About

The name Cushnoc comes from the pre-colonial name of the settlement that would later become Fort Western, and later Augusta. Cushnoc means ‘Head Tide’ and is the place where the tide ends on the Kennebec river.

Cushnoc Maine Coons is a small cattery located in Augusta, Maine. Cushnoc is a CFA registered cattery. All cats in the breeding program are genetically tested for HCM and other health concerns. Each cat and kitten is lovingly spoiled.

Alex Martin runs Cushnoc cattery. She has had an interest in Maine Coons since childhood, spending hours drawing the copied image of a brown classic tabby from the encyclopedia and looking for Coon cat facts.

Alex has had Maine Coon cats for about 20 years. She also has many years of kitten rescue experience helping unregistered kittens find their families.

She comes from a native Maine family, spending much of her time as a youngster growing up in a barn on the Midcoast.
